Privacy Policy
Effective September 9, 2026
Type1Cure ("Type1Cure," "we," "us") operates the website at type1cure.com, an evidence-labeled Type 1 diabetes information and intelligence hub. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We practice data minimization: we collect the least we need to run the service, we do not sell personal data, and we do not knowingly collect protected health information (PHI).
Information we collect
Newsletter email. If you subscribe, we store the email address you provide so we can send updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). Account holders may save bookmarks, which are stored against your account.
Usage and device data. Like most sites, our hosting and analytics may record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, used to keep the service secure and understand aggregate usage.
We do not ask for or want medical records. Please do not submit diagnoses, lab values, or other health details about yourself or others.
Creator Studio and TikTok
When you connect TikTok, we receive your account identifier and display name, authorization tokens, and the profile and publishing permissions you grant. Tokens are encrypted on our server and used only to support your connection and the posts you approve. We do not request access to your private messages, contacts, or medical information.
Your video preview stays on your device. When you press Publish after consenting, we relay the selected video to TikTok. We do not save the video file to our server storage. We store your caption, source, evidence label, publishing choices, consent confirmations, and posting status to show your history and prevent duplicate requests. Unsent captions are held in the open browser page.
Disconnect & delete connection data in Creator Studio removes your stored TikTok credentials and studio posting history and requests revocation of the current app grant. If revocation cannot complete, we show an error so you can retry; you can also revoke access in TikTok settings. Disconnecting does not remove videos already published to TikTok. We keep connection and posting records until you disconnect or request deletion; expired grants are not used to publish. TikTok processes submitted content under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and advertising
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. If advertising is enabled, third-party partners such as Google AdSense may set cookies to serve and measure ads. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where applicable, ad personalization controls offered by those partners.
How we use information
To operate and secure the site, send the newsletter you requested, maintain your account and bookmarks, understand aggregate usage, and comply with legal obligations. We do not use your information to influence our editorial rankings, evidence labels, or safety alerts.
Third-party services
We rely on official APIs and providers to run the service, which may include hosting, email delivery, analytics, advertising, and the public research/news/social APIs we aggregate from (for example PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, openFDA, Crossref, YouTube, and TikTok). Our own social accounts publish our content through these platforms' official APIs; this does not collect data about other platform users.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the site (under contract), or when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
Data retention and security
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymize it. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, including password hashing and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message, delete saved bookmarks from your account, or request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data.
Children
Type1Cure is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
